Two Weeks Old!

Langston video
Ella-Lorraine is 2 weeks old today! She is doing wonderfully! She's still nursing every 2 hours or so, so it feels like I am always nursing her. By the time she finishes nursing and I get her to sleep, get myself a shower or something to eat, she is ready to nurse again. When do I sleep?!

I do feel, though, that she will be quicker to gain weight than Langston. She is not taking to the pacifier as easily as he did which means well, she's not pacified by it. With Langston, there were times when we didn't know he was as hungry as he might have been because he was so engrossed with the pacifier. As a result, his weight gain leveled off early on and we switched to formula AND breastmilk. Then his weight gain was back on track.

Miss Ella-Lorraine is NOT going to have any of that. She lets you know when she is hungry! Oh, and she doesn't like to be wet or dirty either which also makes the sleeping thing a challenge. If she eats wella nd goes to sleep, she'll wake herself if her diaper is soiled. What a diva! We knew she was one simply by the way she waited to make a grand entrance! :)

We may have to travel back East so we bumped up her 3 week check-up to tomorrow. Most of what I've read on the internet re: newborn travel says to at least wait until the baby is two weeks old. So, with that in mind, we're going to the doctor this afternoon to see if she is thriving nicely and OK to travel (I know they don't recommend it so young, but we may just have to do it anyway.)

Well, before my parents left town we went to dinner on their last evening. This is our tradition. The waitress was super-nice and impressed that we were out with a toddler and a new born. She gave Langston a "big brother Sunday."

And then the "I'm going to try to convince myself and you that I'm not tired" energy surge after dinner...
