We're so amazed that "Amen" was one of his first words. He knows that when we say grace, he gets to eat. So, all we have to do is say, "God is great" or bow our heads, or say something like, "Heavenly Father" and he starts saying Amen. Once when he was really hungry, I was trying to stir a hot plate of food and cool it down before giving it to him, and he just started with a chorus of "Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen" in a bunch of different tones and voices as if to say, "OK, I said it already - give me the food!"
By the time this post is edited (October 27th), Langston is truly talking up a storm. In addition to all of the words above, he repeats everything you say - his favorites lately are "OK", "DOG!", "ball", and "alright". This kid can spot a dog from yards away. He also knows sports ball - how does he know that a football and a kickball and a beachball and a soccer ball are all balls? I don't know how he does it, I just know he's brilliant! He also says Mommy or Momma and Daddy.
He says "nose" and can point to it. He also knows where is hair is and his shoes, his eyes and his ears. One day he went to Eugene, pointed and said, "Daddy", then he pointed at himself and said, "Langston". He came up to me one evening, pointed and said, "Momma." I think that was October 3. Just this morning we looked at his baby photos and I said, "who's that - baby Langston?" "That's Langston!" and he looked at the picture and pointed to himself.
Also - Langston likes to say the "hush" part of Goodnight moon... you know "and goodnight to the old lady whispering, hush..."?. He opens his mouth wide and makes this "hash" sort of sound. Gene thinks he's trying to speak Farsi, but I know he is saying, "hush."
And, as of the end of October, Langston has added "O-Key", "Alright" & "Alrighty" to his vocabulary. Who does that sound like? I saw those words every time I finish a task or start a new one - can't believe he picked that up! Makes me smile every time I hear it!
Just to show how big he's getting - here he is taking a bath without the baby tub. We still use his duck tub of course, but this evening we just put him in the regular tub - he LOVES taking a bath. See him on his tip toes trying to sneak a peek, then putting in his favorite toys, then - yippee!! I'm in the tub with my bucket! Life doesn't get much better than this!
