In love with the paper towel tube...
A perfect fit in the crib width (I told Gene - we've GOT to take pictures NOW while he can still fit!)
Learning to crawl...

Daycare Follow-up ~
It is now February 10 and Langston's been at daycare for 2 weeks. Since he's been there, he's sleeping better - through the night! Yay!!!! (unless he fills his diaper to overflowing and makes himself and the bed wet - then he will let you know he needs to be changed.) Oh, and he's filling his diaper to overflowing, because he loves to eat! The second day there, the dc providers told me he was getting upset whenever another kid got a bottle or ate - Mr. McGreedy! He already knows that they feed him at the little wooden tables so if the teachers go there for crafts or to feed another child, Langston heads over there thinking that's the "Time to Eat!" sign. He knows that they usually go outside every day (one day he even fell asleep in the swing) and so he makes his way over to the outside door when he thinks they should go out (it's been raining here for the past week, so some days they haven't gone outside). I think Langston has missed it.
All of this fresh air and food and fun makes him sleepy by 6:30 and, barring a wet diaper, he'll sleep 12 hours. Crazy! The usual routine is that Gene drops him off and I pick him up. It is definitely my favorite part of the day. I love catching a sneak peek of him with the other kids or doing his own thing. Yesterday I caught him trying to crawl on all 4s which he's been doing more of lately (trying, that is) - he's gotten so good at rolling and is even starting to military crawl now - it is so exciting. He hasn't mastered the true crawl yet, but he gets up on all fours and "revs up". So, I know he will get it soon. On his second day there, when I went to get him he raised his arm in a mock wave - I know he wasn't really waving, but I'd like to think so. Last week, he saw me and got so excited - pumping his arms and legs and starting to "crawl" his way over to me. I love seeing his little face get so excited.
I love daycare - it allows me to get things done during the day and get my job done knowing he's in good hands. The only thing I don't always like is that sometimes, by the time I get there he is already so pooped, he's doing his heavy breathing once I put him in his car seat and he's asleep by the first traffic light which is just down the street. Which means less play time with him in the evenings, and of course I miss him, but I love that he is tired from good food and play and care and of course, him sleeping through the night doesn't hurt! And many days he's awake long enough for us to enjoy him and have dinner together as a family.
Today when I picked him up they were working on valentines for Valentine's Day. Could that be any cuter?

The one paper towel pic of him licking it had me on the floor! Such an intimate moment with the paper towel roll of his dreams! How great about the daycare - they're even wearing booties over their shoes where did you find this place?
