Gene's 2 cents:
So after much discussion and some scheduling magic, we decided we'd head to Vegas for our annual Summer vacation. For me, this was exciting for many reasons. First, Vegas holds a special place in my heart because as a young boy we would often travel there for church conferences and I would get to see my friends, Micah, Lester and Rodney. Their father, like mine, was a minister and their mother, Pearl, shared an apartment with my mother when they were in their early 20's, and so it was always good to see them all. Secondly, you don't go Vegas and not eat buffet - you just don't! Not eating buffet in Vegas

probably qualifies as sin and so I was really looking forward to renewing that old tradition. Thirdly, I had last been to Vegas in 1998 and was really excited to see the changes the city had undergone since my last visit - especially the monorail. Fourthly, I was anxious to see the
Cancun Resort, my timeshare's Vegas property, which when I bought my ownership, was hailed as the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel and the Polio vaccine. I was also excited about sharing my knowledge of Vegas with Karlyn - a place she had never been - shocking, I know! Understand, this is a woman who has been to, among other places, France, Spain, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica; so having inside information about a place - anyplace - especially one as grand as Las Vegas, pleased me greatly. Especially since Karlyn, the event planner extraordinaire, is always a little skeptical of places she has never been and experiences she has never... well, experienced. This was also our very first vacation road trip (usually we fly) and with Langston with us, we were really excited about the fun, excitement and discovery that lay ahead. So with all of the anticipation and the bright light of the Luxor awaiting to welcome and signaling our arrival, we head out with a prayer, a baby and car load of snacks!
Here we are poolside on our first day at the Cancun Resort!
