It's a boy!!

It's official - we're parents! So much has happened since our last post...it's been almost 2 weeks since Langston Elijah Brown burst onto the scene and our lives have been forever changed. Ironically, I last wrote on Tuesday, May 27th - the date which became the birthday of our beautiful baby boy.

So, here's what happened - I had a doctor's appointment at 10:30 AM, a follow-up of sorts, at which time the doctor planned to discuss induction options with me if necessary. Well, guess what - apparently it was necessary. I went to the appointment thinking they would schedule a time to induce me the following day or later in the week, but nooooo - the doctor had me, Gene and my parents leave the office and head directly to the hospital, we did not pass go and did not collect $200, just went directly to labor and delivery!

Here's the rest of our day in a nutshell - we arrived at the hospital at noon, they gave me the medicine to induce labor and dilate me at 1:52 pm, the medicine was working by 2:50 pm - too well, in fact! The baby wasn't handling the contractions well so the medicine was removed by about 3 pm after which the nurses and doctors mentioned doing an "expedited" C-section. We were in the OR between 3:30 and 4 pm. Langston Elijah Brown was born at 4:10 pm - a beautiful 6 pounds, 10 ounces and 20 inches long. He came out screaming like a champ and ready to nurse! All three of us were in the recovery room by 5:30 pm! What a day!

Can you believe it? We can hardly believe it ourselves! He is beautiful - born with a full head of hair, perfect in every way and simply striking - of course we are biased and we think he is a genius, but would you expect any less? We've been home since May 31. I'm recuperating from surgery (a C-section was the furthest thing from my mind) and little Langston is adapting nicely to being at home. He's a great eater, sleeper and has been relatively easy so far. He is a really good baby.

Hunni & Pop (my mom and dad) stayed an extra week to help around the house, Gene was home too and I don't think there was a time when Langston was not being held or passed around to someone. He's a delightful little bundle - we just love him!
