Well, technically Langston's "monthiversary" was on Friday, June 27th. I suppose if I really want to be technical, there is also really no such word as monthiversary, but you already knew that!
We had planned to write a blog post on the 27th of June to mark the special date in our new life with Langston, but alas - new parents' big plans don't always work out! Instead, we went on a little break to get away from LA for a bit and try our hand at traveling with the boy!
The 3 of us headed down to Newport Beach just for the evening. We left after Gene came home from work on Friday and hit the road in the middle of weekend traffic. I was so proud of myself, having packed the three of us, breast pump and all and having timed Langton's feeding just right! He slept the whole way down and through dinner! We ate at our favorite restaurant in Newport Beach, Fleming's Steakhouse. Their dessert sampler is to die for! We decided that next time, we are going to start with that. It was definitely a bit funny - the place is clearly a hook-up location and date spot - a place to see and be seen in Orange County on a Friday night, so it was loud and popping - and there were the 3 of us complete with car seat and diaper bag - hilarious. Then we headed to the Fairmont Hotel Newport Beach, another one of our favorites. We were fortunate enough to get an upgrade to the Presidential Suite - a truly luxurious affair. We highly recommend it! Here's Langston enjoying the bedroom. One month old and he's already living the high life!
By the way, Langston smiled at me on Saturday morning (the 18th) - what a joy! He also rolled over for the first time. We put him down for some tummy time and when we looked again, he was on his back - woo hoo! He's also up to 8 pounds 6 ounces (as of his doctor's appointment on Tuesday, July 1) - the doctor says "2 pounds up from his birthdate in one month - that's impressive!"
