Cool like that.

These photos are from September...a trip to the grocery store during which we discovered the car cart!

Lately, Langston has been asking about "what's cool." He's very curious. Maybe this is something he's picked up at the new school (which he loves!), I don't know.

A few weeks ago, he asked me, "Mommy are you cool?" At first I started to say, "No." Then I changed my answer to, "Well, Langston, you know what? You know what makes me cool? Being your mommy. And being Ella-Lorraine's mommy. That makes me cool."

He seemed satisfied with that answer. Well, momentarily. He tried to figure out if just being his Mommy was enough to make me cool by asking me "If Ella-Lorraine were away, would you still be cool, Mommy?" I darted his meaning and said, "Well, she might be away, but I would still be her Mommy." He then said, "No, she's far away and not coming back." He wasn't being malicious or trying to get rid of his sister, he just wanted me to say being his mommy alone was enough to make me cool. I didn't give in. Instead I turned the discussion to how much I would miss her and how sad I would be." This went back and forth for a while until he gave up.

Then, just yesterday he asked me, "Mommy, what makes you cool?" and I answered, "Being your mommy and Ella-Lorraine's mommy - that makes me cool."

To which he responded: "That's right, Mommy! You get a sticker!"
