Ella-Lorraine is talkin' up a storm. She is always happy (unless she REALLY wants something - your food, her diaper changed, a bottle..that accounts for about 15 minutes a day). She just talks and talks - saying everything from "Daddy" to "Oh, Dear" to "Langston" which sort of comes out "Deh, Dun."
Of course, "Momma" or "Mommy" isn't a regular saying. I'm trying not to take it personally. I prompt her with "Mo - mmy?" and she sweetly replies, "Da-ddy?" and laughs. I try to convince myself that she thinks she is saying "Mommy" but it just sounds like "Daddy" to me!
We noticed that she had started saying "Oh Dear" after we returned from Mexico this past summer (August). I think she picked it up from my mother because that was her reaction to Langston and Ella-Lorraine kids if they dropped a cup, didn't listen or she just needed to get their attention.
I think her first real word/phrase was "thank you" - she said that pretty early on. Now she's added, "oh, wow," "alright," "oh no," "cheese" and lots of other sayings to her repertoire. At daycare, they're sure she says, "Gi-rrrl!," but I haven't heard it yet.
Ella-Lorraine knows the teachers names and just this week they told me that in the morning when the teachers sing to each child and each chidl is supposed to respond with "Just fine!", Ella-Lorraine answers for each child - she doesn't just wait for her own name to be called. I suppose she figures since she has so much to say she'll just help those who can't talk for themselves yet. :)
