The winds were so strong at my parents' house that the power went off several (and i mean several!) times throughout the evening. We had rented a movie to pass the time, and every 10 minutes after we had gotten invsted/re-invested in the storyline, the power would go out. It was hilarious! So, instead of ringing in the New Year in front of the tv with Dick Clark, the dropping ball, Times Square and noisemakers, we spent the evening eating our traditional soul food New Year's fare of soul food (fried chicken, potato salad, black eyed peas for luck in the new year, greens for money, etc. etc.) not to mention a smorgasbord of leftovers, cookies, candies and more from various Christmas gifts, parties and meals. It was a small group - just my parents, Langston, Eugene and I, eating by candlelight, laughing a lot! and trying to stay awake (Langston and I failed miserably at the last part, but we did wake up in time to ring in the New Year.)
As a result, we don't have a lot of pics from the evening, but we do have a couple of my favs... Santa had given Eugene and Lanton matching pjs for Christmas after I threatened to buy them both footed PJS, this adult version/kid version combo was a nice alternative! Father and son rang in the New Year totally coordinated, comfortable and cute.

Langston blends in so well it sorts looks like Eugene just has a Langston head growing out of his underarm!
