First Dance

On Memorial Day, the 3 of us went downtown to the train station, to check out Disney's "A Christmas Carol" train tour. Well, apparently, everyone in LA had the same idea. because the wait was 5 hours long. Needless to say, we did not wait in that line. Instead we walked to Olivera Street, one of the oldest spots in our city and a historical monument! So, we strolled there, had a wonderful meal at a nice little Mexican restaurant and just enjoyed being out of the house. On the way back to the car, we checked in at the train again and now the line was "only" 2 hours long, but we didn't stay. We took some photos with the boy outside of the train (because really - he's not going to be able to enjoy most of the displays OR really "get" the tour) just to prove we were there.

how Union Station looks today...

how it looked that night...
On our way out of Union Station, we stopped and reminisced at the site of our wedding reception. We do this every time we go to Union Station. The station itself is a historic landmark and that hall and some of the other original parts of the building stand empty and are only used for filming and private events. We chose that spot (the original ticket counters and hall of the station, complete with inlay tile floors, beautiful cathedral ceilings and lighting, and art deco styling!) for our reception because we wanted something historic and grand and out of the ordinary. Something beyond a ballroom but just as beautiful and something that we knew would always exist and we could always visit. So, we visited and talked with passers by and just enjoyed the memories. And of course, we took pics of the site of our first dance...with our first child. There he is, the product of our marriage thus far and just the joy of our lives (pooped out in his stroller!).

here are some more beautiful shots of Union Station on our wedding night!

So beautiful. And I love that you posted some of your wedding pics...always lovely to think about where we've been and where we are now. You look beautiful.

And I totally get your thought process on the reception venue...we did ours at an old 1920's movie theatre in Houston. How great that you can visit your site anytime!!

Ahhh...so sweet! Kurt and I were just talking about your wedding yesterday - and saying if we could do our again, we would make it "black tie" and DEFINATELY have a chocolate fountain.
Good memories and thanks for having us there!
