Hello all - Some friends of ours have a blog for their little one, so we thought we might try it out. We thought it would be especially great to reach all of our out of town folks - the requests for pregnancy photos and nursery pictures have been endless so here goes...
It is Wednesday, May 14 and we're exactly one week away from our due date. Our due date!!! We can hardly believe it! Our pregnancy journey has been pretty smooth sailing. Great test results, minimal weight gain, "that pregnancy glow" - or at least that's what people tell me..."you're carrying so well!" is another one I get often.
Now of course there have been a couple of hiccups - I took a trip down the stairs early on - at about 6 weeks. It was kind of scary, but an ambulance ride and ultrasound later, I was reassured that everything was OK (I was extremely sore and pulled every muscle in my body, but OK) and could go home to recuperate quietly.
Then in February I had a weird incident where I passed out from dehydration - scarier for Gene than for me!! He weathered it well, though and after some fetal monitoring, a CAT scan, 2 IVs and an ultrasound later, we were reassured all was well and could both go home and recuperate quietly. :)
So, here we are - May already - We've had a myriad of showers, gifts, emails, text messages, phone calls, well wishes and cards- from church families, biological families, friends, teens and more....the baby is moving and kicking and just getting fat. I am trying to be patient and not too overeager. Is it a problem that I'm not that concerned about labor and delivery? The baby's room is ready - we're ready, my bag is ready, the car seat is ready (well not quite, but it will be in the car within 24 hours)...Honey and Pop are flying in on Friday and everyone we know is at the ready by the phones. So, we wait....
