Had a pretty easy Mother's Day today. No cards or flowers or candy, which is OK. We're playing it pretty low key around here. On Friday, Langston gave me a booklet he had made at school with pics and hand prints so in his mind, Mother's Day was Friday. Ella-Lorraine's teacher gave me a "flowerpot" of cleverly crafted flowers of little hand cut outs and one with Ella-Lorraine's picture on it. Very sweet.
On our way to an early dinner, I was talking to Gene about church and all of the Mother's Day wishes and teasing him about the no cards, flowers, bit. (Really, I am ok.) The point of all of this is to tell you about my sweet boy. When we got home from dinner, I went to take a nap on the couch and Langston and Ella-Lorraine played in the yard. A few minutes later he comes into to me, carrying a little nosegay of flowers from the flower pots on the playhouse. They still had the cardboard tag on them.
He said to me, "Here, Mommy. Some flowers for you." I said thank you of course. And he continued, "and a card" and he touched the little cardboard tag. My darling boy. Listening, watching and attending to the details. I love both of them so much.
